Strategy 2023-2027

Leader Northwestern Skaraborg's strategy for the years 2023–2027 is based on local needs based on the opportunities available in our part of Sweden.

Our three target areas

All projects we support must fit into one of our three target areas:

Smart rural areas

New solutions to common challenges create active local communities.

Driven entrepreneurship

Strengthened entrepreneurship based on the area's cultural and natural resources.

Circular flows

Sustainable methods are tested with care for future generations.

Our four areas of focus

Local collaboration

People meet and contribute to the development of their local community.

Inclusive meeting places and a developed community life

Development of new or existing forums that bring together people of different ages, with different experiences and backgrounds. The driving forces of young people and those born abroad are harnessed. Initiatives that bridge socio-economic differences, challenge norms and counteract exclusion.

Local solutions

Development of digital technologies and skills, social entrepreneurship, local services, access to sports, outdoor activities and culture, mobility, events and other areas that are important for people who are committed to their local development.

Attractive living environments

Initiatives that increase the residents' quality of life and well-being and that contribute to the attractiveness of the place.

Viable companies and innovators

Innovative thinking and learning are stimulated among new and existing actors.

We continue to build on a positive and solution-oriented entrepreneurial culture that is based on the natural and cultural resources of the location.

Sustainable tourism industry

More robust and sustainable companies with more legs to stand on.

Local food

We build the future on pride in our food tradition and our expertise from soil and water to table.

Cultural and creative enterprises

Collaborations between cultural actors contribute to the identity and brand of the place. Initiatives that strengthen innovative thinking, learning and entrepreneurial spirit in rural areas.

Sustainable solutions

Increased knowledge of circular flows.

More local initiatives are using, testing and developing circular methods.

A bioeconomy is a society based on renewable biological resources. A circular economy is based on recycling, reuse and sharing to make the best use of the resources we have. Together, the models contribute to a sustainable social economy.

Development of renewable and resource-efficient products and services

Renewable resources replace non-renewable raw materials and develop business opportunities based on all stages of the life cycle.

Local renewable energy

To cope with the expected electrification, more and more electrical energy will be needed. Therefore, more local producers of renewable energy are needed.

Circular consumption patterns

By exchanging, renting and reusing, we can optimize the use of things and materials during their lifetime. We need to become more circular to reach our goal of new solutions that are tested with care for future generations.

Cooperation around the lakes

Experience from previous Leader Vättern and Fishing Areas Vänern is being utilized.

The work will take place through collaborations with other Leader areas around lakes Vänern and Vättern, through three focus areas.

Development of tourism businesses and outdoor activities

Sustainable sport fishing, reduced negative effects of increased fishing and visitor pressure and consideration of the role of ports.

Knowledge dissemination

Increased knowledge about commercial fishing, sport fishing and the ecology of lakes creates the conditions for long-term sustainable development.

More local fish on your plate

For long-term sustainable commercial fishing in Lake Vänern and Lake Vättern, for example through platforms for coordination between commercial and recreational fishing and authorities. The aim is to promote new solutions for fisheries management, business development, knowledge transfer, improved opportunities for local processing and collaborations with local restaurants.
