Our sustainable future is shaped locally
During 2026, Leader Northwest Skaraborg 3 million kronor for projects that strengthen sustainable development in the area. We are looking for initiatives that test new solutions and create long-term benefits for both people, businesses, and the environment.
The project support is aimed at ideas that want to test something new and have the potential to continue after the project period. We do not provide support for regular operations or ongoing maintenance.

Fundamentally, it is important that your idea is anchored in your organization, with your surroundings, among stakeholders, and of course that there is a need among the target group or recipient.

We welcome collaborations between different actors and sectors.
how much support you can receive
Projects that create benefits for many can receive 40–100 % in support.
For projects that contribute to business development, the following applies:
- max 300,000 kronor
- 40–50 % support of the project budget

Conditions & selection criteria with assessment bases
After you have had a dialogue with Lovisa about your idea and it is deemed to match our intervention area for sustainable solutions & circular flows, it is important that your application is complete according to Lovisa's directives and feedback. Our working committee first reviews your application and provides you with feedback based on our conditions and assessment criteria, followed by our LAG board which makes decisions on approval or rejection.

A bioeconomy is a society based on renewable biological resources. A circular economy is based on recycling, reuse and sharing to make the best use of the resources we have. Together, the models contribute to a sustainable social economy.

Renewable resources replace non-renewable raw materials and develop business opportunities based on all stages of the life cycle.
Local renewable energy
To cope with the expected electrification, more and more electrical energy will be needed. Therefore, more local producers of renewable energy are needed.
Circular consumption patterns
By exchanging, renting and reusing, we can optimize the use of things and materials during their lifetime. We need to become more circular to reach our goal of new solutions that are tested with care for future generations.
Biodiversity in our landscape
Biodiversity is a prerequisite for functioning ecosystems and a sustainable society. By creating, improving, and protecting habitats for plants and animals, we can strengthen nature's resilience and contribute to attractive living environments for both people and species.

Deadline by which the application must be fully submitted in the Swedish Board of Agriculture's e-service: June 9, 2026
If your application is complete for processing and assessment, it will go to the working committee on September 10, followed by the LAG board which makes approval or rejection on October 15.

Inspiration
Here we have gathered some ideas and other projects to be inspired by.
From manure to energy in farmers' way
In Western Skaraborg, about 80 farmers came together to investigate how their manure can become renewable energy with a clear ambition to own and drive the development locally.
With support from Agroväst and other networks, knowledge, consensus, and collaboration were built, resulting in a joint decision basis.
The pre-study laid the foundation for Biogas Västra Skaraborg, which is now being established outside Vara. Here, by-products are converted into renewable energy and biogas fertilizer, creating new income for agriculture and contributing to a more circular and fossil-free society.
Waste heat becomes benefit for the community
For over 50 years, Jonslundsbadet has been an obvious meeting place, a place for swimming lessons, summer jobs, and community in the area. When the old heating solution disappeared, the operation was threatened.
Through a collaboration with the industrial company Dahrén Sweden AB, waste heat could be utilized and give the bath new life. A circular solution that both reduces energy use and secures the bath's future as a continued meeting place for generations.
Circular meeting place in the countryside
At Rikardsgården, resources are truly utilized. With materials from the own forest, reuse, and traditional building methods, the place is developed step by step. Here, waste also becomes a resource through compost toilets that return nutrients to the soil.
At the same time, collaborations are built with local producers, and the place offers food and coffee with ingredients from the local area.
The result is a vibrant meeting place where sustainability permeates both building, food, and experience.
