Smart villages

The project supports ideas that create solutions to challenges in rural areas, and that make our places and our region even better. Through the umbrella project Smart Villages, we can also support smaller projects with up to 40,000 kronor.

Do you have an idea that can contribute to making your place or region an even better place to live?

Are there others who want to help you develop and implement the idea? Then you can apply for project support within the theme area ”Smart Villages.”.

SMART VILLAGES

In national and European contexts, the term SMART Village, Smart Villages, is often used to describe places that create solutions to new challenges. They are based on the assets of the location, knowledge, and the residents' ability to take action. We think that is SMART!

City, countryside, or village hole?

Each place has unique conditions based on, among other things, natural resources, access to services, and not least the people who live there. This means that the challenges are also different. Therefore, Leader North-Western Skaraborg wants to support groups that test new solutions to local challenges. This can involve giving young people in the area the opportunity to develop locally, taking advantage of digital opportunities to facilitate everyday life, or contributing to an improved quality of life for those living in the area.

Who can apply?

To apply, you need to be a group that wants to do something together. An organization (association, company, authority) or an individual can be the applicant. The benefits of the project should accrue to our leader area.

What are the selection criteria?

The projects should contribute to a positive development of the place or region where one lives and be beneficial to many. At least one of the following criteria must also be met:

  • The project creates inclusive meeting places and a developed association life. Development of new or existing forums that bring together people of different ages, with different experiences and backgrounds. The driving forces of young people and those born abroad are harnessed. Initiatives that bridge socio-economic differences, challenge norms and counteract exclusion.
  • The project develops local solutions. Development of digital technologies and skills, social entrepreneurship, local services, access to sports, outdoor activities and culture, mobility, events and other areas that are important for people who are committed to their local development.
  • The project works for attractive living environments. Initiatives that increase the residents' quality of life and well-being and that contribute to the attractiveness of the place.

How is the project financed?

Leader finances 100% of the project's budget. The maximum amount is 40,000 kronor. Costs in the project can include own work, personnel, consultancy fees, venue, food, travel, education, surveys, or investigations.

You as the applying organization or individual pay the expenses in the project and then apply for payment from Leader North-Western Skaraborg. Therefore, it is important that you have liquid funds to carry out the activities in the project.

How do I apply?

Contact the leader office before you apply. We support you with the content of your application for sub-activity according to your needs and conditions. When the setup is ready, you fill out an application with an estimated budget that is assessed by a committee that decides whether your sub-activity should be granted support. If your sub-activity receives support, a contract is written between you and Leader North-Western Skaraborg. The assessment committee makes decisions continuously as long as there is money left within the umbrella project.
