WOOL SWEATERS FOR PLACE IDENTITY

From sheep to folk costume – Swedish wool with roots in the landscape
A place-bound design process to develop sweaters that carry the expression of nature and the stories of the region.

About the project

The project explores the possibility of creating wool sweaters with a strong place identity, made from Swedish wool and inspired by nature and cultural history in the Kinnekulle area. By mapping production sites, analyzing costs, and creating sketches for an initial collection, the project lays the foundation for future sustainable production in Sweden.

The goal is to unite aesthetics and function with local resource use, strengthen the attractiveness of rural areas, and give rise to a new type of contemporary ”folk costume.” In the long run, new business opportunities, forms of collaboration, and meaningful clothing are created – for both residents and visitors.

The product development process for wool sweaters with place identity

”I want to create sweaters that feel as much as they warm – with patterns that carry the soul of the place and materials that utilize our own resources”
