Intercropping that strengthens the future of winter rapeseed

Can more plants in the same field provide healthier crops and reduce the need for chemical inputs?

About the project

Can more plants in the same field provide healthier crops and reduce the need for chemical inputs? In this project, new methods for intercropping in winter rapeseed are being tested on farms in northwestern Skaraborg. Through local field trials, knowledge dissemination, and collaboration between farmers and advisors, the project aims to contribute to a more sustainable and competitive agriculture.

The purpose of the project Intercropping in winter rapeseed is to investigate how intercropping winter rapeseed with other crops can reduce attacks from pests, improve soil health, and strengthen the sustainability of the cultivation.

Through practical demonstrations, cultivation trials, and knowledge dissemination, the project will provide farmers, advisors, and other stakeholders with new knowledge about sustainable cultivation methods that can contribute to increased profitability and reduced dependence on chemical pesticides. The results will benefit the entire agricultural sector in northwestern Skaraborg and create conditions for a more resilient agriculture in the future.
