Preliminary study woodcraft
Can experiences from one of Europe's most well-known wood regions contribute to developing woodcraft in Northwestern Skaraborg? This is what Leader Northwestern Skaraborg wants to investigate through the project Preliminary Study Woodcraft.
Together with the German leader area Silbernes Erzgebirge, local craftsmen, businesses, and development actors will explore the possibilities for future international cooperation that strengthens both competence, innovation, and entrepreneurship within woodcraft.
About the project
Woodcraft has a long tradition in both Northwestern Skaraborg and the German region Silbernes Erzgebirge. At the same time, the industry faces several common challenges, such as skills supply, profitability, regeneration, and the need for new markets.
Through the project Preliminary Study Woodcraft, Leader Northwestern Skaraborg will investigate the conditions for a future cooperation project between the two leader areas. The preliminary study includes study visits, experience exchange, and dialogue between craftsmen, businesses, and organizations with a particular focus on woodcraft, design, sustainability, and business development.
During the project, participants from Northwestern Skaraborg will visit the German wood region Seiffen, which is internationally known for its wooden toy craftsmanship and strong craft tradition. Through meetings with businesses, educational initiatives, and local development actors, the project aims to gather knowledge on how traditional craftsmanship can be developed and create new opportunities for businesses in rural areas.
The preliminary study will result in a report that identifies common development areas, possible forms of cooperation, and future project ideas. The goal is to create a stable foundation for long-term international cooperation that strengthens local businesses, creative industries, and rural development in both Northwestern Skaraborg and Silbernes Erzgebirge.
